Longhorns? Fighting cancer? Against Georgetown? As of May 2, that's just what the basketball team will do next December. Jimmy V Week, an event sponsored by ESPN and The V Foundation, is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research. Named for Jim Valvano, who passed away of cancer in 1993, this will be the fifth annual Jimmy V Week and the tenth Jimmy V Classic. Valvano, a basketball coach at North Carolina State, was famous for his speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards (the speech itself starts at about 2:35)

The University of Texas has played in the Jimmy V Classic twice in the past, in 2003 and 2008, and won in 2008. Hopefully this year marks another win for the Longhorns as they play against the Georgetown Hoyas. The other game played will be North Carolina State versus Connecticut.

On a side note, the Tower will be lit orange tonight for the women's rowing team, who won their fourth consecutive title last weekend with 105 points.
