Garrett Gilbert's Job is in Jeopardy

Garrett Gilbert had another very shaky performance Saturday during a scrimmage.  There are reports that there is a chance Gilbert could lose his job. Gilbert was very bad last season during his first season as the starting quarterback of the team.

Gilbert is famously known for replacing an injured Colt McCoy in the BCS National Championship game in 2010 against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Garrett Gilbert or a Back Up?

Hmmm very interesting situation in Austin, Texas regarding the quarterback situation.

Garrett Gilbert really had a nice performance, or at least promising performance when he was thrown under fire in the first quarter of the BCS National Championship Game.  He threw two touchdowns to go along with four interceptions.

Then came the 2010 season.  Expectations were high for Gilbert but he did not deliver at all for the Longhorns, leading them to a 5-7 season.  He didn't show a lot of flashes of greatness either.

Gilbert is going to have to play very well, very early if he hopes to continue to quarterback this team.  Casey McCoy is hot on his trail.

Texas Longhorns Could be in Trouble with NCAA

The NCAA is going through turbulent times relating to scandals by their major universities like USC and Ohio State. Players throughout the country are seeming to have a difficult time with the rules.

Now, after USC dealt with the stripping of their '04 title and Ohio State goes through their own deal, it looks as though the Texas Longhorns may be joining the not-so-fun party.

The wife of Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, who was a former Longhorn, may have spilled the beans about Texas football players. Whoops... Guaranteed Mrs. McCoy's comments will be looked in to by the NCAA and that the necessary actions will be taken.

Will Garrett Gilbert Step Up Next Season?

The quarterback of the Texas Longhorns is Garrett Gilbert.  You probably already know that.  He was all-world in high school.  He was a big recruit for Mack Brown.  He was thrown into the National Championship Game when Colt McCoy went down, where he threw a few touchdown passes as well as some picks.  Last season, he threw 10 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.  Yes, he was just a "freshman."  However, the expectations are always high in Texas and Gilbert will be expected to make a huge transition if they want any chance to compete for a National Title.
