Five current members of the No. 5 Texas Longhorns were selected on the second day of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Sam Stafford, Brandon Loy, Cole Green, Andrew McKirahan and Tant Shepherd were chosen on Tuesday. Along with Taylor Jungmann, who was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 12th overall pick. The Longhorns have had six players picked through the first 30 rounds.
Stafford was drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round with the 88th pick overall.
Loy was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the fifth round with the 167th overall pick. The Tigers have selected four Longhorns in the last three years.
The Cincinnati Reds drafted Green in the ninth round with the 295th overall pick.
Andrew McKirahan went to the Chicago Cubs in the 21st round.
The New York Mets selected Tant Shepherd in the 24th round.
